Users Overview

The Users view displays all users permitted to access the Valtix Portal. Users are assigned a Role which grants the user authorization privileges.

When a Valtix Tenant is created, a Local User is created with Super Admin Role. This User has full privileges to administer the Valtix Tenant.

Additional Users can be created as either Local (non-SSO) or SSO Users. Local users will authenticate with a Valtix user-managed password. Any email can be used as long as it meets the following criteria:

  • The email specified is a valid email where the user can verify their account, set their password and use the email-based password management process to reset or change their password
  • The domain used for the user email must be different than the domain that is used for SSO integration (only applies if the Tenant integrated into SSO for user authentication)
  • The email specified must be unique across all Valtix Tenants unless the Valtix Tenants are configured for Multi-Tenant Login (MTL)

All Users who will access the Valtix Tenant through the Valtix Portal must be created within the Valtix Tenant. If a User who should have access is not created, then either authentication will fail or authorization will not be granted.

Create - User

To create a User you must access the Valtix Portal as a Super Admin or Read/Write Admin User.

  1. Navigate to Administration -> Management -> Users
  2. Click Create User
  3. Enter the following information
    • Full Name: Full name of the user
    • Email: Valid user email (see criteria above)
    • Role: The user authorization (permissions) (admin_rw, admin_read-only`)
    • MFA: Whether the user should use MFA
    • SSO: Whether the user password is managed locally (non-SSO) or managed through an integration with an Identity Provider (SSO)

Non-SSO User

If a non-SSO (Local) User is created, an email will be sent to the User to verify their email and set their password. Password management is done by the User through the Valtix Portal authentication.

A User can change or reset their password as follows:

  1. Access the Valtix Portal user login
  2. Enter the user Email address and click Continue
  3. Select Forgot password? link
  4. Enter the user Email address and click Continue

Am email will be sent to the User to reset their password.

SSO User

If an SSO User is created, no email will be sent to the User. The User will be able to immediately access and login to the Valtix Portal with their SSO credentials. The Valtix Portal authentication will redirect to the SSO for authentication. Once authenticated, Valtix will authorize the User based on the assigned Role.
